When communities lose their people, Europe loses its potential. 🚨 Creating the conditions for people to live, work, and thrive in their own hometowns isn't just a local ambition; it's a European necessity. Depopulation, brain drain, and unequal access to services don't stop at regional borders. They weaken Europe's competitiveness, resilience, and long-term prosperity. That's why we welcome the European Commission's initiative to gather input for a Right to Stay Strategy📍, a new policy framework aimed at ensuring people are not forced to leave their communities because of a lack of opportunities, essential services, or quality of life. Addressing growing territorial inequalities and the impacts of climate change requires a long-term European vision, but one that is built from the ground up. Place-based solutions must be at its core, giving communities the coordination, resources, and autonomy they need to shape their own future. 🏛️ Municipalities are already leading the green, digital, and social transitions. Now they need the tools and support to turn these ambitions into lasting opportunities for their residents.
