Connecting local energy projects with national energy and climate strategies can reduce red tape, unlock investment, and help deliver the EU's 2040 climate goals. 🎯 As the revision of the Governance of the Energy Union and Climate Action Regulation approaches, there is a real opportunity to strengthen how the EU plans and delivers the energy transition. The current framework has improved energy and climate planning across Member States. But it still does not fully reflect how the transition happens in practice: through local and regional action, existing plans, and ready-to-invest project pipelines. Together with our partners in the #LocalAlliance, we propose a simpler and more effective governance approach based on four connected and mutually reinforcing elements. The goal is clear: transform National Energy and Climate Plans #NECPs from reporting exercises into practical tools for coordination, investment, and implementation. This would help bridge the gap between planning and delivery and put the EU on a stronger path to achieving its 2040 climate objectives. Read our full position paper 👉 https://lnkd.in/eQka7VTR
