From grade, this expansion joint reads as one continuous line. Up close, it crosses a concrete spandrel band mid-run, moving from brick to concrete and back again without a break in the seal. This Boston Seaport façade shows a vertical run of Seismic Colorseal continuing through that transition without interruption. Same system. No detail break. Transitions like this are where structural expansion joints typically fail. When materials move differently, stress builds, leading to cracking and loss of seal. Precompressed foam systems solve this because they don’t reset at every condition. They stay in compression and follow the expansion joint continuously, even when the façade doesn't cooperate. Installs without invasive anchors: no pins, no tracks, no substrate damage. #ExpansionJoints #BuildingEnvelope #FacadeEngineering #CommercialConstruction #Sealants #Waterproofing #Architects #Sika #Emseal
