Emporia State University has been invited to join the Center on Rural Innovation Artificial Intelligence Consortium (CORI-AI Consortium) project. The Center on Rural Innovation, with support from Microsoft and LinkedIn, is launching a pilot program focused on empowering rural colleges and universities. The "Higher Ed AI Consortiums in Rural America" project will enhance AI literacy and readiness in four rural communities through a year-long program. The initiative focuses on building an AI community of practice and a train-the-trainer model to equip faculty and staff with the tools and resources needed to create institutional AI knowledge and establish AI learning hubs. ESU has partnered with Emporia Main Street and the Emporia Public Library to expand access to AI education throughout the community. Overall initiative topics will include: 1. Improving AI literacy which includes prompt building skills, safety awareness, workload time management and morals and ethics of AI usage. 2. Using AI as a “personal professional assistant” to improve efficiency. 3. Understanding that AI is not just a search engine but truly a knowledge generator. The project aims to ensure rural communities remain competitive by increasing AI skills among students, staff and alumni while supporting long-term economic growth. #EmporiaState | #CORI #HigherEducation
