Almost exactly 24 years ago, I walked through the gates at Sellafield as a comms graduate, hoping I looked like I knew what I was doing. Today, I’m starting a new role as Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Director. This is where LinkedIn wants me to say I’m “thrilled”, “humbled” and “excited”. I’ll spare you that. What I am is grateful. I’ve been lucky enough to work with brilliant people, take on fascinating challenges and see first-hand why our work matters. The biggest lesson? Communication isn’t just about telling stories. It’s about listening, building trust and helping people make sense of complexity. I’m looking forward to working with the fantastic Communications and Stakeholder Engagement team, alongside colleagues, partners and communities, to keep doing exactly that. Right, enough announcing.
