“Good and true things are easy"—Taylor Swift via Steven Spielberg's wife, Kate Capshaw. I’m no Swifty, but her recent speech at the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame has a lot of deep meaning & encouragement to all of us on career paths. She explained that for her, songwriting was the "easiest" thing she ever did. But she quickly clarified what she meant: "easy" didn't mean effortless. The core passion came naturally, but the career path built around it? That was incredibly hard and learned. Her entire message in 1-sentence was: navigating the career surrounding a passion is a learned skill that will involve trial, error, and resilience. Expecting the entire journey to be effortless is a trap. It made me ask myself: are good & true things always easy? Maybes yes, maybe no. I've been thinking about it a few days now. . https://lnkd.in/ekedY4aH
