A new chapter in Energy Diplomacy Last week marked a significant milestone as Azerbaijan, via its national energy company State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), launched its first-ever gas exports to Syria - marking the opening of a new energy corridor through Türkiye, supported by Qatar. The deal enables the initial delivery of 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas per year - enough to restore 1,200 MW of electricity capacity and contributing to the normalization of life for over 5 million Syrians. 🔑 This goes far beyond a commercial agreement - the real impact lies in the broader strategic alignment it fosters: #Azerbaijan, by extending its gas diplomacy into the Middle East, maintains its role as a strategic energy driver - leveraging infrastructure and partnerships to deliver stability, opportunity and cross-regional development. #Türkiye cements its role as a vital energy transit hub, leveraging its position to promote both regional and global stability. #Qatar, by backing the corridor financially, showcases its ability to combine development finance with strategic humanitarian impact. And #Syria, long isolated by conflict, takes a significant step toward energy security and reintegration into regional cooperation. ❗ It's worth emphasizing that Azerbaijan is expanding its gas diplomacy beyond Europe - contributing not only to the global energy security but also to regional development, peace and fostering reliable partnership. 📌 Today, more than ever, the role of energy is being redefined. It is no longer a sector - it has become a platform for #diplomacy, a #bridge between nations and a catalyst for shared #progress. #EnergyDiplomacy #SOCAR #Azerbaijan #Türkiye #Qatar #Syria #RegionalDevelopment #SharedProgress #NewChapter
