It was an honour to welcome the First Lady of Lithuania, Diana Nausėdienė, and H.E. Ambassador Asta Radikaite to EMBL-EBI, together with colleagues from the Office of the President of the Republic of Lithuania, the Embassy of Lithuania in the UK, and representatives of leading Lithuanian universities. 🇱🇹 As an EMBL member state, Lithuania is an important partner in advancing life sciences research and innovation across Europe. The visit provided an opportunity to reflect on EMBL’s ongoing engagement with the Lithuanian scientific community, and to explore future opportunities for collaboration in research, training, and biological data resources, building on existing links such as the VU LSC-EMBL Partnership for Genome Editing Technologies. During the visit, the First Lady underlined the importance of science and genomics in improving people’s daily lives and health, and how EMBL-EBI, through its open data resources, helps inform solutions to global challenges. We were also honoured to receive a unique gift from the First Lady: The Lithuanian anthem encoded in synthetic DNA. 🧬🎶 Vytauto Didžiojo universitetas, Vilniaus universitetas / Vilnius University, Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, Klaipeda University, Embassy of Lithuania to the United Kingdom, the Republic of Portugal and the Sultanate of Oman
