Genomic instability is often one of the first steps in cancer initiation. Learn how EMBL researchers are using an AI-powered workflow to spot the hallmarks of genomic instability in cells even before they turn cancerous. In this video, Alice Gaiatto, Bridging Postdoctoral Fellow in EMBL Heidelberg's Korbel Group, discusses a tool their team developed, called machine learning-assisted genomics and imaging convergence – or MAGIC. MAGIC allows scientists to use an automated microscope pipeline to spot cells with genomic abnormalities and specifically mark them using a laser and a photoconvertible dye.
