Did you know? Legend has it, that the idea for the first ever version of the Peruvian flag came to the libertador Don José de San Martín in a dream during an afternoon nap under a palm tree in the city of Pisco. In his dream he saw a legion of patriots carrying a flag and when he woke up he observed in the sky a flock of parihuanas, Andean Flamingos with white breasts and red wings, which inspired the colours of what would become the Peruvian flag.
