I’m pleased to share our latest publication, now available online in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (PRS): “Post-burn Scar Contracture: Inconsistent Definitions Limit Comparability and Burden Estimation.” Through a systematic analysis of the literature, we found that post-burn scar contracture has been defined inconsistently for decades, limiting comparability across studies and the development of robust evidence. In response, we propose a pragmatic and reproducible working definition together with an objective severity classification based on range-of-motion impairment. This work is also the result of an outstanding international collaboration with the Department of Plastic Surgery at UPMC Pittsburgh. I am sincerely grateful to Prof. Francesco Egro MD, MSc, MRCS for his mentorship and for the opportunity to contribute to the research activities of his lab. Working alongside such a talented and collaborative team has been an invaluable experience. #PlasticSurgery #BurnSurgery #BurnCare #ReconstructiveSurgery #Research #EvidenceBasedMedicine #PRS #AcademicMedicine #UPMC #GlobalSurgery
