Happy Friday!! One of the reasons I feel deeply blessed to work in cybersecurity has nothing to do with a boardroom or a breach. Years ago, our family started a Christmas tradition — going door to door caroling with our kids and their friends. One of the neighbors we met that way was an elderly couple down the street. Over time, they became part of our world. They'd call when a light bulb needed changing. When the husband found out I was in tech, he'd call me for his Ring doorbell, his garage door app, the usual. His wife passed away recently. He's now in independent living. Last week he called me — he couldn't remember the password to his desktop PC. He mostly uses his iPad now, but he needed to file his taxes. I went over to help. While I was there, he mentioned almost in passing that he also had over 30 years of family photos on that machine. I used a bootable USB and a password reset tool to get him back in. Taxes done. Photos safe. This is why I stay in this field. Not every win makes it into an executive report. Have a great weekend!
