Giuliano Giuggioli, Hermes, oil on canvas, 2020, 70x100 cm. The Fragments cycle, executed by Tuscan master Giuliano Giuggioli in 2020, also includes this precious canvas featuring the god Hermes (Mercury in Roman mythology) accompanied by his characteristic petasus and golden caduceus. Created during the difficult covid period in 2020, the work is painted as if it were a crumbling fragment, a reminder of our ancient culture that is disintegrating and of the human intellectual capacity that is increasingly diminished: a skilful allegorical play given by the symbolic image and colours to awaken the human logos. Re-analyzed today, two years after its execution and in a completely different historical moment, the canvas can be considered a positive vision of the future: no longer a destructive fragmentation but a fragmentation in the act of creation. Man is opening his eyes and the god Hermes (god of eloquence, cunning and intellect, travel, trade and much more) returns to help people with his caduceus, the staff of wisdom and concord (power for the staff, concord for the serpents and solicitude for the wings). The work thus demonstrates the master's ability to be timeless. Unfortunately, the canvas is not on display at the Manzoni Kunst Galerie (where you can find other works of equal value and poetic value by Giuliano Giuggioli), but I could not fail to write a few words about it. www.criticoarte.org #elisamanzoni #artcritic #manzonikunstgalerie #oosterwolde #giulianogiuggioli #tuscanmaster #allegory #myth #hermes #caduceo #simbolicart #Fragmentscycle #contemporaryart #artcollectors #artcollections #artlovers #iternationalartists #italianartinthenetherlands #kunst #kunstliefhebber #kunstcollectie #affordableart #artforyourhome
