Perforated tray installations for multicore cables are a common approach in both industrial and commercial electrical systems, particularly where a large volume of cable runs must be installed within limited space. An accurate rating factor that accounts for grouped multicore cables installed in multi-tier perforated trays is required to optimise cable sizing and ensure compliance with applicable standards. For this installation method, the applicable rating factor is provided in Table 4C4 of BS 7671. Manually referencing the rating factors in this table can be time-consuming, prone to error, and difficult to implement within repetitive design workflows.
