VIDEO First TruckZero Test Event: testing the charging of e-trucks at the Elaad Testlab in Arnhem 18th and 19th of May 2026- ElaadNL Testlab in Arnhem Organisation: ElaadNL and Rijkswaterstaat (RWS) at Cleantech Park Arnhem. Real-world testing provides valuable insights into the interaction between vehicles and charging infrastructure and helps identify where technical bottlenecks may arise. While charging for passenger mobility has developed steadily over the past 15 years, the development of heavy-duty electric transport is still at a relatively early stage. At the same time, the logistics sector is changing rapidly. This calls for significant investment, with charging as a decisive factor. During TruckZero, engineers from participating manufacturers test their vehicles and charging systems at the ElaadNL Test Lab. There, a wide range of charging situations can be examined in a controlled way, without depending on conditions at specific locations. This quickly provides valuable data on communication between vehicles and charging infrastructure, charging behaviour and the possible impact on the energy system. The results of TruckZero will be analysed and incorporated into a report with general, anonymised findings, which is expected to be published at the end of July. In this way, ElaadNL and Rijkswaterstaat contribute to knowledge sharing within the sector and to a better shared understanding of the technical and system-level questions linked to the further scaling up of zero-emission freight transport.
