As International Baccalaureate (IB) schools across the UAE begin announcing their 2026 Diploma Programme (DP) results, one theme is already emerging: This was a graduating class unlike any other. The Class of 2026 completed one of the world's most demanding pre-university qualifications against the backdrop of regional conflict, extended periods of distance learning and the unprecedented cancellation of the May examination session in the UAE. While students ultimately completed the Diploma Programme through the International Baccalaureate's established alternative assessment arrangements, their route to graduation looked very different from that of previous cohorts.
