EIGEN Bio: An Origin Story Sometimes the person who sees a field most clearly is the outsider. Sang H. L. came to biology from fintech, quantitative AI, and complex systems, domains where the core challenge is extracting signal from nonlinear, adaptive, high-dimensional noise. That outsider lens became the foundation for EIGEN Bio. The thesis is simple, but ambitious: the deepest failures in drug development are increasingly failures of interpretation. The data exists. The biology is speaking. What’s missing is the intelligence layer capable of reading dynamic human response. Eigen Bio is building that layer: a biological intelligence platform designed to model the causal regulatory logic of human disease across compartments, modalities, and interventions. This piece tells the story of how Sang and the team got here, why RNA became a critical window into active biology, and what we are building next.
