The signing of the agreement between both parties is a main step towards Gennaker offshore wind project completion, planned for 2028 and another step towards Germany’s energy independence to fossil energies. A ceremony was held in Rostock today to celebrate this major milestone for the project. Monopiles for the Gennaker project are to be produced in Rostock– only 40 kilometers away from Gennaker installation area and will rely on a strong employment plan to secure jobs at EEW SPC, which currently employs 1000 people. Each monopile is up to 54 meters long with a top diameter of 7.5 meters and weighs up to 877 tons. “Securing this agreement is another important milestone for Skyborn’s blue-print project, Gennaker – strengthening further planning to construction and completion. The agreement signed today demonstrates our strong commitment to Gennaker being deeply rooted in a local standpoint, delivering long-lasting value and benefits for the communities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Offshore wind combines global ambition with concrete positive impact on the ground. I am proud Skyborn contributes to this.” says Patrick Lammers, Skyborn CEO. Given their expertise in delivering in budget and planning, EEW Special Pipe Construction has been the partner of choice for this supply and we are looking forward to a long lasting and valuable partnership.” Lammers adds. “We are proud to be part of the Gennaker project with our partner Skyborn which - as a German project right in our neighbourhood - is of particular importance to us. Being chosen as a supplier underlines our competitiveness and excellent standing in the market.” adds Robert Dreves LL.M., EEW SPC Managing Director.
