🇪🇺 ‘MonoTwin’ project: Supporting a new era of logistics for offshore wind foundations 🙌 We’re excited to announce that we’ve officially joined the three-year research initiative ‘MonoTwin’, supported by Technologie-Beratungs-Institut GmbH (TBI) and co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). TBI has a long history as a project management agency for the Ministry of Economics, Infrastructure, Tourism and Work of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. With a diverse team of experts, TBI offers specialized guidance and assists technology-driven companies and research organizations with comprehensive project management and oversight. 🔍 What is MonoTwin? The aim of the project is to develop a digital product twin of monopiles, fed by data from a custom drone-based mobile flight unit. This digital twin will allow us to record the real-world status of each monopile (such as its location and relocation) clearly and realistically in digital form. This is the first step toward simulating warehousing processes and achieving greater automation and effectiveness in storage and logistics. 🚀 Our role in the project Our logistics department in EEW SPC is leading the technical development of the project. Together with our partners from Fraunhofer IGP and CiS GmbH, we intend to create a digital product twin to refine existing processes and ensure the company is well-prepared for future demands. 💡 Our vision: "With MonoTwin, we aim to bring more transparency, efficiency, and automation into our warehousing. By digitally mapping each monopile’s lifecycle, we’re setting the foundation for smarter logistics and long-term process stability," says Jan Heyne, Technical Project Director. We look forward to sharing more as the project progresses. The MonoTwin project runs through July 2027, and we’re just getting started.
