Journalist; First Class Durham History Graduate
I’m excited to share that I’ve graduated from Durham University with first-class honours in History, including a third-year module average of 77 and a grade of 88 in my Dissertation ‘Contradictory Constitutions: Smuggling, liberties, and the limits of the British fiscal-military state in Guernsey, c. 1683-1807’. I’m grateful to have been awarded the History Dissertation Prize for the best undergraduate dissertation (excluding local history) and the Thompson History Prize for the best performance in the final-year examinations. Following advice from the History department, I’m working towards publishing my dissertation in relevant academic journals. I would like to thank my dissertation supervisor Talitha Ilacqua, along with Department of History Durham University for supporting me through the last three years. I’m most proud of having balanced hard academic work with extracurricular activities over the past three years. Highlights include performing and working behind the scenes on 23 student theatre productions with Durham Student Theatre, being President of two of Durham’s largest theatre companies, writing and editing for Wayzgoose Magazine as Head of Reviews, and modelling for Durham University Charity Fashion Show, independently fundraising £2400 for Marie Curie UK. I’m excited to be moving to London in September, and beginning the MA Magazine Journalism course at Journalism @ City St George's!
