“Children are not just small adults.” This was a phrase I heard during my time at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust, and one that still sits with me. Working within a complex tertiary paediatric centre showed me that caring for children requires a very different depth of clinical thinking, communication, and multidisciplinary care. During my time at GOSH, I had the privilege of gaining exposure across ENT, Spinal Surgery, Orthopaedics, and Paediatric Anaesthesia. One of the most formative parts of this experience was the opportunity to be involved in theatre, including scrubbing into procedures and assisting in the operative environment under consultant supervision. I am very grateful to Mr Richard Hewitt (ENT Surgery Consultant) and Mr Mark Harris (Trauma/ Orthopaedic Surgery Consultant) for their formal supervision and support throughout this experience. A special thank you also to Miss Helen Chase (Orthopaedic Consultant) for her generosity in teaching and for allowing me to gain valuable practical exposure in theatre. A truly inspiring experience that further strengthened my interest in paediatrics, surgery, and academic medicine. #GreatOrmondStreetHospital #GOSH #Paediatrics #PaediatricSurgery #ENT #Orthopaedics #SpinalSurgery #Anaesthesia #MedicalStudent
