Inspired by the legacy of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, a new scholarship from the Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) recognises the enduring partnership, determination and shared purpose between New Zealand and Nepal. The Everest Murihiku Scholarship will support an outstanding Nepalese student to study environmental management through SIT’s Bachelor of Environmental Management programme – a great example of education strengthening connections between countries and communities. Initiatives like this highlight the lasting value international students bring, both during their studies and well beyond, while also honouring the courage, determination and friendship that defined the historic Everest ascent of Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay. More information about the scholarship, which will start in 2027, will be available on the SIT website later in the year. https://lnkd.in/eQnxWuMb
