On August 21, we had the pleasure of hosting an exciting event at EDF US Innovation Lab Innovation Lab, co-organized with CleanLeap and Cleantech Open: AI: From Power to Applications in the Energy Sector. The event kicked off with introductions, followed by a fireside chat on the role of AI in energy, from the growing impact of data centers on the grid to innovative applications in operations, grid management, and customer solutions, with insights from Amine Benssy, Innovation & Energy Markets Team Manager, and Agathe Charny, Open Innovation Analyst, both from EDF Innovation Lab. 💡 Key takeaways from the discussion: 📈 The rise of AI is driving massive new electricity demand, especially from data centers, reshaping both challenges and opportunities for utilities. ⚡ Flexibility will be essential: data centers can evolve from being grid stressors to becoming active participants in flexibility programs. 🛠️ AI in operations & maintenance is already improving efficiency in power plants. 🌐 On the grid side, AI helps with vegetation management and interconnection studies, accelerating the energy transition. 🤝 At the customer level, AI opens new possibilities in personalized services and flexibility programs, bridging utilities and end-users.
