FLAMMABILITY TESTING IN MEXICO: WHAT DOES SAFE REALLY MEAN? // EDAG Group has inaugurated a new Flammability Area at our test laboratory in Mexico, expanding our validation capabilities for material safety and compliance. At the opening, a live demonstration showed a plastic component from a vehicle awning exposed to direct flame. Not a staged concept part, but a real component used to observe how materials behave under defined fire exposure conditions. The focus is not spectacle. It is data. We evaluate how materials react under fire load, specifically their ability to limit flame propagation or self-extinguish. These results directly influence material selection in vehicle development. The facility operates under ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation and supports test procedures aligned with requirements from the US, Canada, Brazil, China, and additional markets.
