William Osler (b. 7/12/1849) Perhaps Osler's greatest contribution to medicine was to insist that students learned from seeing and talking to patients and the establishment of the medical residency. This idea spread across the English-speaking world and remains in place today in most teaching hospitals. The success of his system depended, on its pyramidal of many interns, asst. residents & a single chief resident. While at Hopkins Osler established the system whereby staff physicians lived in the Admin Building of the Hospital. https://lnkd.in/gKEFrPGh
