There was a brilliant leadership lesson hidden in last night’s England game. Jude Bellingham picked up the ball for the penalty. He could have taken it himself and scored. Making him Englands top scorer in a single World Cup. Instead, he handed it to Bukayo Saka and let him complete his hat-trick. Then, a few minutes later, Bellingham scored anyway.. securing him the incredible record. It reminded me of something I’ve noticed over the years. The people who make the biggest impact are rarely obsessed with being centre stage. They’re secure enough to step aside, back someone else and enjoy seeing them succeed. Ironically, those are often the people everyone remembers. Whether it’s on the radio, in business or in leadership, people never forget how you made them feel. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do isn’t take the moment. It’s give it away. The best thing any of us can do is to get hold of the spotlight.. and shine it on someone else. What an icon. And built in Stourbridge!
