When heritage meets modern learning - Primary School Kindermanngasse, Vienna The listed Kindermanngasse primary school in Vienna was carefully modernised as part of a comprehensive refurbishment. The challenge was to preserve the building's historic character while creating a contemporary learning environment. Acoustics played a central role from the very beginning. In the dining hall, Ecophon Solo™ Circle free-hanging units were installed beneath the existing vaulted ceilings - their rhythmic arrangement improving speech intelligibility while adding a playful visual quality. The same circular design is echoed in the stairwells, where the elements are combined with lighting to create clear focal points. In the classrooms, Akusto™ Wall panels provide both acoustic performance and practical functionality as pinboards. The collaboration with Ecophon ran from early planning stages through to completion, ensuring the acoustic solutions were aligned with the architectural vision throughout.
