How can a child spend 15,000 hours at school in the UK and still grow up disconnected from nature? We believe that this matters far more than people realise. Research has consistently shown that access to nature can positively influence children’s emotional wellbeing, concentration, physical health and even long-term development. In 2011, the UK Government itself stated an ambition for “every child in England” to have the opportunity study and also experience the natural environment. However, the reality is, not every child has equal access to those environments, and in many urban areas, green space is continuing to shrink. This is why we believe green infrastructure should never be viewed as simply an investment in buildings, but an investment in future generations and healthier communities. Imagine the long-term impact if every school was designed with outdoor learning and wellbeing considered from the very beginning. What could that mean for children’s mental health? For concentration levels? For quality of life? At Eco Green Group, we’re seeing first-hand how greener environments can transform spaces and create long-term benefits for communities, not just environmentally, but socially too. For us, the question is no longer whether we can afford to invest in greener schools, but whether we can afford not to. #GreenInfrastructure #NatureForAll #OutdoorLearning #Wellbeing #SustainableSchools
