We, the EBU, with our Members and a number of international organizations are calling on the Czech government to guarantee adequate, stable funding and ensure legally binding protections for PSM independence. Plans to replace the licence fee with state budget funding for Czech Radio and Česká televize from January 2027 would mean a significant cut, with no safeguards for editorial independence and no prior consultation with the broadcasters.
