Tomorrow marks 40 years since the #Chornobyl disaster.   For many years, the EBRD has worked with Ukraine and international partners to help make the site safe.   After last year’s Russian drone strike, the New Safe Confinement — the large steel arch built over the remains of Reactor Four — needs urgent repair to protect it from corrosion and keep the site secure. The mission: restoring the NSC full functionality by 2030. The need: at least €500 million worth of urgent repairs to protect decades of global investment.   We call on the international community to help us restore the site’s safety. ebrd.com/chornobyl The EBRD's work in Chornobyl is currently supported by the European Commission, the Ministry of Economy, Ministère des Affaires étrangères français, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Direktoratet for strålevern og atomsikkerhet (DSA), Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada, Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, the TaiwanBusiness-EBRD Technical Cooperation Fund, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Belgium and Ministero dell'economia e delle finanze.   With Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, SSE "Chornobyl NPP".
