Meet Jakob Steiner, who recently joined E. Blum & Co. AG. Some people have a way of looking at the world that makes everything worth understanding. Jakob is one of them. What struck us most is the breadth of his culture, reaching far beyond science — the mark of a mind driven by universal curiosity. Whether he is exploring quantum sensing, fine-tuning precision optics, or designing RF circuits, he brings the same blend of precision, creativity, and calm determination. Jakob studied physics at the University of Stuttgart, specialising in 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀  with a particular focus on 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴. He went on to complete a doctorate at the Paul Scherrer Institute, where he worked at the intersection of 𝗻𝘂𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 and 𝗻𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴. Before joining Blum in 2026, Jakob spent several years in R&D roles within startups, including in the 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗺 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 and 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 sectors. This hands-on experience gives him a rare ability to bridge scientific insight, engineering pragmatism, and real-world innovation cycles. At Blum, Jakob advises clients and drafts and prosecutes patent applications in 𝗺𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴, and 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝘀. Outside the office, Jakob is happiest when he’s cooking or perfecting a BBQ recipe. He also enjoys hiking, cycling, and tinkering.
