20 years ago today, my mentor Mr Owen (school teacher and friend) gave me the money I needed to finish my degree at Cambridge. That moment changed everything. To honour him, I founded The Ebenezer Ademisoye MPhil Scholarship—a way to pay it forward by helping genius Black students access Cambridge too. Every year, the applicants blow me away. Honestly? I’d never get in now. These students are brilliant. This year was a little different. I got to travel back to Cambridge a few times to meet one of the recipients. Adekanmbi Omowonuola had some many events and causes to lift up. Inspirational. I got to witness some of them. Not only did she pour into multiple causes and uplift countless people during her time at university—she also graduated with a First Class in Law. First Class in Law from Cambridge University. Law. Cambridge. First Class! If you’ve got faith like me, then you’ll understand when I say: Won’t He do it. 🙌🏾 If you know, you know. Wonuola, thank you for letting me be part of your journey. When I launched the scholarship, I dreamed of students like you. Your presence and story have inspired so many other young Black students to believe Cambridge is for them too. Can you imagine a first-class Cambridge Law grad—who looks like them—saying: “You can do it too”? And hearing what you’ve got planned next? The rocket is already launched. 🚀 #EbenezerAdemisoyeScholarship #CambridgeUniversity #BlackExcellence #FirstClassHonours #LawGraduate #PayItForward #MentorshipMatters #RepresentationMatters #BlackScholars #FaithAndFocus #WonHeDoIt #DiversityInEducation #HigherEducation #Trailblazers #CambridgeAlumni #BlackLawyers #AlumniImpact #WomenInLaw #MPhilScholarship #NextGenLeaders #ThankYouMrOwen
