Our winter gritting service has now come to an end. From October until April our gritters were on standby 24 hours a day, 7 days a week helping to keep East Renfrewshire moving safely throughout winter. ❄️ This season saw: - our teams treating 18,981 miles of priority routes - that’s around three‑quarters of the way around the world 🌎 - 111 winter service actions carried out 🥶 - 2,947 tonnes of salt used on priority routes - almost filling an Olympic sized swimming pool 🏊 - 41 tonnes of salt used to keep grit bins topped up across our communities 🧂 Thanks to our gritting crews and winter controllers for their efforts this winter, working long hours whilst most of us were asleep, and at times in challenging conditions. 👏 You'll continue to see our gritters out across the area as they're used to carried out our roads resurfacing programme and to attend to faults. 🚧
