A commemorative event was held today by Provost Mary Montague to mark Workers’ Memorial Day tomorrow (28 April) at Eastwood House. Wreaths were laid with guests taking part in an act of remembrance and reflection which provided an opportunity for us all to remember those who have lost their lives at work, as well as those who have suffered injury, illness, or disease as a result of their employment and the lasting impact these experiences has made on their lives, their families and communities. By remembering the dead and fighting for the living, the Council marks this annual event to honour those workers, while reaffirming the vital role we all play in keeping our colleagues safe.
