We’re taking in this incredible Paul Niemeyer mural in Grant Park — and if the name sounds familiar, it should. 👀 Niemeyer (BA, EIU ’79) is the commercial & fine artist behind some of the most iconic visuals in gaming history: the original Mortal Kombat game cabinet + logo, TRON, Tapper, Spy Hunter, and so many more. His work has touched everything from Jurassic Park 2 and Men in Black to Star Trek, The Little Mermaid, Star Wars: Phantom Menace, and Pirates of the Caribbean. He’s designed board games, PopCap favorites like Peggle and Bejeweled 2, and even theme-park props and dark rides across the world. Seeing his work in Grant Park feels like stumbling across a piece of gaming history — created by an EIU alum, no less. 🎮💙✨
