As we benefit from Singapore's maritime success, nature suffers. On a recent volunteer trip with the NUS Tropical Marine Science Institute Reef Ecology Lab, we came across a floating Green Turtle, sliced in half, likely from a vessel strike or craft propellers. It was devasting to see the impacts of man on our wildlife right infront of my eyes. As humankind leaves its inevitable mark on our environment, it is also up to us to contribute, big or small, in our own way. Small, insignificant actions can have huge cascading impacts down the path. After the researchers collected some tissue samples, we left the carcass in the wake of the boat. I hope the turtle finally found peace in our busy, mechanical waters. #Sustainability #Conservation #Singapore
