Super excited to see our latest paper ("Optical Phantoms for the Characterization and Validation of Imaging and Spectroscopy: A Review") being published in #BiophotonicsDiscovery. Exactly twenty years after Brian Pogue and Mike Patterson's seminal review paper on tissue phantoms, we are presenting a review of the current state of tissue optical phantoms. With 280 papers cited, this work reviews the current state of tissue phantoms for the field of optical imaging and spectroscopy, providing practical information on sample geometry, materials, and modality-specific requirements to inform phantom design. We hope this publication will be a useful resource for the Biomedical Optics community. Congrats to @VivianKrause, a second year PhD student in our group who took the lead on this paper as a real 'welcome to graduate school' immersion experience.
