A milestone for ALS research: a DZNE-led international consortium has been selected for the prestigious Longitude Prize on ALS. Together with our partners from the CURE-ND4ALS consortium, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven) and The University of Edinburgh, as well as the Gladstone Institutes, University College London (UCL), the National University of Singapore, and Stockholms universitet, we aim to use advanced AI to better understand ALS, identify biologically distinct disease subtypes, and uncover new targets for future therapies. By combining extensive genetic, molecular, and clinical datasets with causal AI approaches, the project seeks to accelerate the path from data-driven discovery to therapeutic innovation — addressing a disease that remains one of the most complex and devastating in neurology. We are deeply grateful to all researchers and partners involved for their expertise, commitment, and collaborative spirit. This recognition strengthens our resolve to deliver the scientific advances that ALS patients urgently need. Congratulations!
