How close is the future of electric short-haul aviation? In the latest episode of DeepDive CleanTech, our founder and CEO David Wortmann speaks with Ivor van Dartel, CEO and Co-Founder of VÆRIDION, live from ILA Berlin - Pioneering Aerospace. Vaeridion is developing a battery-electric regional aircraft for commercial short-haul routes: a conventional nine-seater with electric propulsion and a range of around 400 kilometers. The company plans to bring the aircraft into commercial operation from 2030. The conversation covers the economics of electric regional aviation, certification under EASA requirements, safety concepts for battery-electric aircraft, and the question of whether short-haul flights up to 800 kilometers could be electrified in the next decade.
