Nicolaus Copernicus was a Renaissance-era mathematician, a renowned astronomer, and Catholic canon. He formulated a model of the universe where he placed the Sun at the center of the universe rather than Earth. His model sharply contradicted the idea of Kepler and brought in a revolutionary change in Astronomy which is still prevalent.
