Forty years ago, a sixteen year old boy walked out to open the batting for Kettering Town 2s in a plain white polo with no helmet and a brand new Duncan Fearnley Magnum in his hands. That boy was Mark Hallum, and that bat never left him. Through decades of club cricket, through lockdown, through every summer that followed, Mark held onto his Magnum, refurbished it by hand, tracked down a fresh set of DF decals and hung it proudly on his wall where it lives to this day. He still plays cricket, by the way. This is what a great bat really means. Not just a piece of willow, but a chapter of a life, a first innings, a Saturday morning, a memory that never fades no matter how many seasons pass. Thank you for sharing these photographs with us, Mark. We are genuinely honoured. #DuncanFearnley #TheMagnum #Fearnatics #CricketMemories #EnglishWillow #CricketLife #ThreeStumps #DFLegacy
