Does your pretreatment line need to run as hot as it does? It’s a question most facilities haven’t asked, mostly because the line has always run that way and there’s been no reason to challenge it. Heating wash stages to the temperatures most pretreatment lines run at is an enormous and continuous energy expense. It runs every shift, whether production is at full capacity or not. Lower operating temperatures not only reduce energy bills — they reduce tank evaporation which then reduces water consumption, chemistry carryover, discharge volumes, and waste treatment costs simultaneously. We’ve helped facilities save over $100,000 in energy, chemical, labor, and waste service expenses. One facility saved over $65,000 in annual gas costs alone just by switching to a lower temperature formula. If your pretreatment line is still running at the temperatures it was set up at years ago, it’s worth revisiting the conversation about what a temperature reduction could actually save. #Pretreatment #SurfaceFinishing #MetalFinishing #ProcessImprovement
