Calling all singers in the Folk or Ballad tradition - Dublin City Council Luke Kelly Bursary 2026 closes midnight 3 May! This brand-new Bursary will spotlight and support the next generation of singers in the Irish folk tradition. At its heart, the Dublin City Council Luke Kelly Bursary is a platform for new voices which reflect the musical legacy that Luke Kelly defined. Six Bursaries will be awarded. Each Bursary includes €1,000, dedicated mentorship time with acclaimed Irish folk artist George Murphy, and a performance slot at the Dublin City Council Luke Kelly Festival in May 2026. Open to singers of all ages, there are two age categories - 30 years of age and under, and over 30 years of age. To take part, singers must upload a one song video performance. Video submissions will be accepted until Sunday 3 May 2026 at midnight. The Dublin City Council Luke Kelly Bursary is part of the Dublin City Council Luke Kelly Festival, which returns to Smithfield Square, Dublin on 23 and 24 May 2026.
