The next phase of Southeast Europe's energy transition isn't about building more renewable, it's about integrating them into the market. That was the focus of the panel "Scaling Beyond Borders: Greece as a Regional Large-scale #Hybrid #Renewables Investment #Platform" at RENPOWER Greece 2026(Euroconvention Global) , where STANISLAV DUDKA, Head of Power Desk Europe at D.TRADING, joined Nikos Sofianos (Institute of Energy for South-East Europe – IENE), Kyriakos Stratakos (MORE – Motor Oil Renewable Energy), Eirini Vernikou (Baringa) and Vasiliki Sionti (Aurora Energy Research) to discuss the next investment cycle in Southeast Europe's power markets. One message clearly stood out - #battery #storage is becoming the key enabler of renewable integration, but successful projects will increasingly depend on sophisticated trading and revenue optimisation rather than technology alone. As Stanislav Dudka noted: "Battery projects need to enter the market as early as possible to capture the highest value from ancillary services before these revenues become increasingly competitive. As battery deployment accelerates, project economics will gradually shift towards day-ahead, intraday and balancing markets. Long-term success will depend on diversified revenue strategies and effective risk management." The discussion also highlighted that Southeast Europe's power markets are becoming increasingly interconnected. As battery deployment and renewable penetration accelerate across #Greece, #Bulgaria and #Romania, investment decisions can no longer be made country by country. Regional market integration, cross-border #trading and flexible commercial models will increasingly determine where value is created.
