As volumes fluctuate faster than ever, warehouse operations must be built to adapt without disruption. At our warehouse in Venlo, this thinking has guided our collaboration with Exotec. With around 100 autonomous robots, we are modernising operations in the Netherlands. The system supports fulfilment for multiple retail brands and manages approximately 100,000 bins and trays, enabling rapid scalability of processing capacity and storage density. Because it does not require major warehouse changes, customers benefit from faster fulfilment and a more responsive operation overall. This goods to person setup is helping us meet strict Service Level Agreements (SLA) while keeping costs under control. The operation also includes automated box opening, automated decanting, closing and labelling, alongside a mezzanine level dedicated to returns. “For us, the real value lies in building operations that can evolve over time. With Exotec, we are creating a solution that enables flexible logistics for our customers, allowing us to respond to changing demand while maintaining strong performance and high service quality, especially during peak periods. I believe that’s essential in a market environment that is becoming increasingly agile.” Peter van der Maas, COO, Contract Logistics Rather than focusing on automation as a one time upgrade, this approach allows the warehouse to evolve over time. With a flexible and scalable system in place, we are well equipped to support our e-commerce growth for the years to come, while remaining agile and ready to adapt to future demands.
