There are places you stumble into exactly when you'd given up on them. Joseph Werlitsch thought he'd missed peak fall colours in American Fork Canyon, Utah — by a week, maybe more. He went anyway. Dirt road, four-wheel drive, as far up the canyon as he could get. He stopped in a heavily wooded stretch and put the drone up, just to scout. "At first, it felt like any other moment I've been out. I didn't have much hope." Then the drone cleared the tree line. "Just north of me was a field of yellow. I was giddy with excitement! The reds may have been over but the yellows were in full bloom." He pushed forward, captured what he could in that remote pocket of land, swapped a battery, and drove to the next spot he had in mind — a lake, mirror-still, holding the mountains and the colour. "I felt like I had found my own personal heaven." This is what Human Proof is built on — not the shot, but the moment behind it. "No AI, no algorithm could have predicted the scene in that moment. The excitement I felt after convincing myself that I would find nothing but dead leaves, only to be completely blown away by the sea of color that I had found where no one else was." And Joe names the thing at the heart of it: why any of this is human at all. "Art isn't just some collection of colors or a picture on a screen. Art is emotion and soul... No AI can recreate the emotion that humans bring to art — it cannot even understand what creativity is. That is what Human Proof means to me." Not for likes. Not for views. To be in the place, and to feel it. This is Artist Spotlight #8. Joe Werlitsch 🇺🇸 — American Fork Canyon, Utah "Personal Heaven" ✦ Human Proof Certified — humanproof.art
