Preparing teacher candidates for clinical simulation begins before the simulation itself‼️ Prior to an #IEP simulation pilot, Alternative Certification Program graduate candidates were provided with a brief academic language glossary as a supplemental reference resource to help them become familiar with key terms and concepts they would encounter during the simulation. The goal was to provide support regarding unknown terminology so they could focus on analyzing scenarios, making instructional decisions, and engaging in meaningful reflection. Academic language is more than vocabulary. It is the language of professional practice, and providing intentional supports before a clinical simulation helps create more equitable opportunities for candidates to demonstrate what they KNOW and can do. #TeacherPreparation #ClinicalSimulation #AcademicLanguage #HigherEducation #TeacherEducation #InstructionalDesign #EducatorPreparation
