Are corporate #accelerators, #incubators and #innovationlabs doomed to fail? In the newest episode of the The Most Awesome Founder Podcast of the WHU Entrepreneurship Center, Gerrit McGowan and I had the incredible opportunity to talk about this topic with Steve Blank, founding father of the #leanstartups movement and one of the most influential management thinkers in Silicon Valley. According to Steve Blank, corporates tend to use #corporateventuring to imitate startups. However, startups do not have the same cultures, structures and processes as corporates. Therefore, he believes corporate venturing activities inherently triggers innovation theater. For him, the solution to innovation theater is not a better incubator or moving toward new and sexy instruments like corporate venture builders. In his opinion, corporates need a new toolbox to deal with disruptive innovation and we are just at the starting point of discovering it. Do you agree with Steve Blank’s opinion or are you more hopeful about the prospects of corporate venturing? Please share your input!
