Today I was able to visit Austen Ward at the Harbour in Blackpool as part of our director engagement programme at Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust I attended with one of our Non Executive Directors. The Harbour is currently our largest hospital and Austen Ward is dedicated to supporting female older adults. I was fortunate to meet Kyle Worthington (Ward Manager) and Sophie Humphries (Matron) and was blown away by their dedication and commitment to improving the care and treatment of older people. It was particularly nice for me as I was a Consultant on this ward for many years and have watched Kyle and Sophie grow in their roles..
