After an extensive inclusive recruitment process, I am delighted to announce that Dr. Dushyanthan Mahadevan has been appointed as the new Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO) here in Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust Dush is an experienced Consultant in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is the ELCAS Clinical Director, with senior management on call experience in addition to his clinical responsibilities. He is currently part of the leadership team which is supporting ELCAS to shortly move to be part of LSCft on July 1st. Dush trained in Manchester before being appointed as a Substantive Consultant at ELCAS. As a Consultant he has held a number of different senior leadership roles at ELCAS prior to becoming Clinical Director of the service. Dush has worked closely with colleagues there to deliver services widely recognised for their high quality. Dush has an interest in medical and multidisciplinary education, is both a clinical and educational supervisor and he worked for several years as the Deputy MRCPsych Course Director for Heath Education England North West. He is very experienced in the recruitment, development and retention of Doctors. In addition, he has held honorary lecturer posts at local Universities in the North West. Dush is passionate about providing high quality and person-centred care, and creating a culture which enables this. He will commence in post from September 2024 but will be working on some projects before then.
